Congratulations!

It's a bold step to go out of your comfort zone and pursue a career in travel nursing! You're about to embark on the greatest adventure of your life!

Step 1

The first step in becoming a travel nurse is deciding why you want to become a travel nurse. Is it the insatiable desire to travel? Is it the thought of making a meaningful impact in all variations of communities? Or is it getting well paid to pursue your passion?

What ever it is that is driving you towards becoming a travel nurse, it is important to know your why! Think "Why do I want to be a travel nurse?".

Step 2

Now look at your current qualifications. Are you suitable to be a travel nurse and in what specialty? What qualifications or extended practice do you need to complete to get into the area you want to be in? If not, how can you get there?

Most agencies and contracts are looking for at least 2+ years of experience in the area you are wanting to practice in.

Step 3

Decide where you want to go! Travel nursing is available in every state! There are benefits to certain states over other states and your agency will talk you through these! Perhaps you're after the vast Western Australia, the tropical Queensland, or the remote nature of the Northern Territory? Regardless of where you want to go, there will be a contract for you!

Step 4

Review and pick your agency. There are a lot of agencies that supply nurses to Australian contracts. All agencies will have certain benefits from other agencies. For example, one might pay higher wages, but the other has better travel and accomodation supplements. One might have better bonuses, while others are preferred suppliers to certain areas. Reach out and onboard with the agency that gives you the most of what you want from your travelling journey. They will guide you on what things they specifically need from there.
